Kyriaki Economakis describes herself as a \u201cversatile traveller”, and silently, I agreed with her many times during our conversation. She works passionately in the business sector, touches on writing through her scientific field of knowledge, but most of all, she touches everyone who knows her through her vitality, generosity, and her disposition for equality and balance.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Dear Kyriaki, would you like to introduce yourself to the readers of Infowoman?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am Kyriaki Economakis, I come from Mani, Manager of Business Development at Microbase for the last thirteen years. I studied Social Psychology, while my postgraduate and doctoral research focused on Human Resources Management and Resource Management. I have written books in the field of HR and Management, collaborated with universities and served as a scientific consultant in the central public administration, public organizations and local authorities. At the same time, I am active in international and Greek forums, as well as in women’s entrepreneurship networks. My work has been recognized with distinctions by institutions in Greece and abroad.<\/p>\n

Which of your “roles” do you value most? What do you prioritise?<\/b><\/p>\n

The roles in my life have been exciting and have not let me become bored. But if I exclude family warmth, unquestionably the priority belongs to my scientific and professional achievement. This feeling arises because in my life I did not focus on obstacles but on positive psychology and creation. Since my youth, I have been thinking about living a life that, in the end, I would say is “worth it”. I feel that, to this day, I am walking on this path with whatever effort, difficulty, and reward this journey involves.<\/p>\n

\n

A woman is like a work of art that if you scratch it, blood will flow. Because her struggle for survival, recognition, recognition and independence is painful. A woman is “condemned” <\/span><\/strong>to be a multifaceted traveller.<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n

You have passed through roles of responsibility and influence in your professional career. What message would you give to women claiming their place in society or work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I want to tell them that a woman is like a masterpiece that bleeds when scratched. Because her struggle for survival, recognition and independence is painful. A woman is \u201ccondemned\u201d to be a multifaceted traveller. She must see beyond the obvious. She must take care of herself, as prevention is not just a theory but a practice that starts with us. To focus on the incessant pursuit of knowledge, on continuous training, on flexibility and adaptation to new things, to be guided by teamwork, to argue, to claim, to disagree where necessary, to not be afraid to clash, to research and learn new tactics, and to exchange knowledge and experiences because there are no solitary geniuses.<\/p>\n

Women, the paths to success and happiness are your only choices! Always choose the hard path, the one that moves away from shallowness, and associate with people who share your values or help define your intellectual identity. And one last thing\u2026 Life requires strength and sensitivity, two elements that women possess by nature.<\/p>\n

You hold a leadership role in a large technology company, a field that is often \u201cowned\u201d by men. I can\u2019t help but ask you about the position of women in the professional sector \u2013 although it’s clich\u00e9, stereotypes still, unfortunately, exist and hold strong\u2026 What do the terms ‘glass ceiling’, ‘sticky floor’ and ‘labyrinth effect’ mean to you? Do you believe that today the obstacles for women lie more in the structures or in the informal mindsets that still dominate?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Let me answer primarily for us. The Management of Microbase is far from this mindset; it is a matter of principles and conscious choice to lack prejudice and recognize meritocratic criteria. They are people with vision and courage who change the future with creativity and moral judgement, and together we build a culture that combines technological excellence with a human-centred approach.<\/p>\n

In our company, we are surrounded by young people, and we find that they have been largely weaned from the stereotypes of previous generations. That is clearly an optimistic message.<\/p>\n

Now, the ‘invisible obstacles’ such as the ‘glass ceiling’, ‘glass elevator’, and ‘labyrinth effect’ as well as the ‘leaking pipeline’, which is the final stage of manipulation (because it concerns the departure of women from the workplace), are also found in decision-making centers and in most business staffs. According to research, unconscious bias makes it much more difficult (and slower) for women to rise to managerial positions compared to the corresponding development of men.<\/p>\n

Today, however, women come forward because they have education, knowledge, specialization, will, organization, self-confidence, ambition, skills, and goals. With these qualifications, the ‘glass ceiling” is nothing more than a glass that breaks. Individual action should simply have a more dynamic stigma.<\/p>\n

\n

Leadership positions should belong to those who are capable and persistent in their goal, regardless of gender. Ultimately, leadership is for those who are not hindered by any barrier, not excluding morality. Ascension is for those who have a soul!<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Women do not have unrealistic ambitions in essence. For women, there is no such thing as an untouchable perspective. They have proved their path in all sectors, to be able to conquer prestigious positions at high levels and in decision-making centers. It is, therefore, an inalienable need and imperative of the current era to shape a society of equal opportunities and equality, without discrimination and exclusion, an element of progress in Democratic societies and a catalytic element of social cohesion.<\/p>\n

You combine your professional career in the field of business with active participation in collective actions for women. How do these two worlds communicate with each other, and what do they learn from each other?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

It is not at all difficult for these two worlds to coexist. The combination of business and collective actions has a common and essential point of contact. The MAN! The professional horizon, no matter how important, innovative or useful fields of study it offers, it does not cover your personal innermost quests. You must travel to the worlds of doubt and experience the adventure of the reality of life. Thus, it is fateful that the journey opens paths for you in your spiritual and social quests, and within them, you meet people and actions that will ‘call’ you to walk with them beyond your professional occupation.<\/p>\n

And believe me, when this mentality exists in general, it also enters into the most specific ones. All knowledge and experience of your professional field are automatically transferred to the research field of collective research and endow with essential value the struggle for the improvement of human life.<\/p>\n

This, as a guiding principle of life, is included in both my professional and personal paths. From the philosophy of Microbase, which is to GIVE VALUE and not to APPEAR, and from Corporate Social Responsibility to the anthropocentric footprint and inclusion, to participation in solidarity actions and collective bodies that can improve society and the reality of all of us.<\/p>\n

Normally, we would end here, but finally I want to ask one last question: if you could go back in time, would you choose something different in your life? Would you change your route and your choices?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I created, I lived, I succeeded. I was a versatile traveller. I believe in a life that does not entertain us but reveals us. I was a good traveller and companion in my life. Each part of me had a value. I was a bold destroyer of meanness. I was a bold builder of creation and new perspectives. I was far from the arrogance of immoderation and the dogmatism of power, which is why in my account when I am with myself\u2026 a smile of LIFE comes out.<\/p>\n

I learnt to read my interlocutor with seriousness; I was honest with him and consistent in what I decided.<\/p>\n

\n

All ‘I was’ are identical to ‘I am’, because the journey of life continues!<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So to your question, I answer both about the route and my choices: I wouldn’t change anything I’ve done or said. But I don’t know what the future holds for me \u2013 because life is unpredictable!<\/p>\n
